CU Factor Talent Competition - County Final

Talent Competition Final

 

 

The Galway County Final of the CU Factor Talent Competition takes place in the Town Hall Theatre, Galway on next Sunday 19th May at 7pm.

 

This is the fourth year of CU-Factor that is a youth initiative of the Credit Union Movement.

 

Previous winners were the S.L.Dance Technics from Abbeyknockmoy, Headford impressionist, Shane Cunningham and solo singer Ramsey Ojo of Claregalway.

 

This year’s competition has unearthed a great variety of talents.

 

Initially, about 400 Acts were auditioned and the Top 18 Acts for Sunday’s grand finale qualified through local heats held by Credit Unions in Athenry, Ballinasloe, Glenamaddy, Indreabhán, Kinvara, Loughrea, Tuam and Galway City.

 

The overall County Winner will receive the CU FACTOR Perpetual Trophy and a cheque for €1000.

 

Ollie Turner of Galway Bayfm will compare this spectacular show on Sunday 19th May and the raffle proceeds will go to Foroige.

 

You are invited to come along and support these young singers and musicians.

 

Tickets costing €6.50 are selling fast and should be booked at the Town Hall Theatre, Galway (091-569777).

 


Credit Union School Quiz National Final

The quiz took place in the RDS in Dublin on April 7th.
There were fifty teams competing in the under elevens category and fifty teams in the under thirteens category.
Athenry Boys School finished fourth in the under elevens category which was excellent. They did everyone proud.


Athenry Credit Union CU Factor 2013


  1. Entry Forms are available from Athenry Credit Union Office or may be requested from email cufactorgalway@gmail.com

  1. Closing date for receipt of applications is 16th April 2013

  1. Auditions on 20th April 2013 at 5pm at the Presentation College, Athenry to select the 12 finalists for the Athenry Credit Union Final.

  1. The Athenry Credit Unions Local Final will take place at 5pm on 4th May 2013 in the Presentation College, Athenry

  1. Maximum Time allowed for each act is 5 Minutes. Acts exceeding the time limit may have marks deducted.
     
  2. No age limits apply. Everybody welcome – young & old.

  1. Performances may consist of Music, Song, Dance and/or Comedy.
     
  2. Competitors must provide their own accompaniment or backing disc/tape.

  1. Judging criteria will be based on Performance, Stage Presentation and Entertainment Value.
     
  2. A panel of independent judges will hand up to the Scorekeeper their marks for each act immediately after performing. The judges will not confer. To eliminate bias the highest & lowest mark will be discarded. In the event of a tie the discarded marks will be re-introduced to get a result. If necessary, a lesser number of judges may be used at the local heats level.
     
  3. The Judges Decision is Final.

  1. The Top Two Acts go forward to CU-Factor Co Final on Sunday 19th May 2013 at 7pm in Town Hall Theatre, Galway. Rehearsals will be held in the afternoon.  Book Tickets (€6) at Town Hall Theatre 091-569777.

  1. The Winning Act will receive a Cash Prize at Local level.

  1. The County Final Winner will receive €1000 and a Perpetual Trophy.

  1. The Credit Union will endeavour to provide a safe environment for all participants taking part in this competition. However, it will not be responsible for any loss, theft or damage to equipment for the duration of the competition.

Athenry Credit Union Quiz 2011


Credit Union Schools Quiz, 2011.

There was great excitement on Sunday 6th February, when 26 teams entered the annual Athenry Credit Union quiz.

The standard was very high, and it was a hard fought and close contest throughout.

In the under 11’s, Athenry Boys National School and Craugwell National School could not be seperated, and the quiz went to a tie-break. To the delight of their teachers and family, Athenry Boys National School emerged victorious. Third was Monivea National School.  Athenry Boys National School go foward to represent Athenry Credit Union at Chapter level.

In the under 13’s the winning team was Scoil Chroi Naofa.
There was a joint second, which were Craughwell National School and Newcastle National School.  Scoil Chroi Naofa will also go forward to represent Athenry Credit Union at Chapter level.

We wish both teams the best of luck.
